Upstate and Western New York Fishing Report - September 2, 2021 Temps are forecast in the lower 30sF for highs and dropping back into the 20s at night with some colder temps in the upcoming forecast. Also to note is the Ridge Road/Route 104 bridge over the Oak Orchard Creek in the town of Ridgeway is now open to travelers. Port Bay still has perch fishing along the north end of the bay. Ive heard from visiting Rec boats (AKA recreational) that west of the Point in 100-200 ft of water got em steelhead and coho salmon action. Their Catch of Kings ranged from 16 to 22 lbs. Seasonably cold is forecast thru about mid week so those bumped up flows are already on the retreat though. First, take advantage of mature king, coho salmon and brown trouts urge to seek the river waters around the piers at the Point Breeze pier, channel, and bay casting with brightly colored spoons is the ticket, especially predawn and at sunset. You can see the Canal drainage influence in the stained color but Canal release flows sure look more tempered in the smaller tribs then say the Oak. The brown trout action in nearby tribs that was pretty good is a little slower lately thanks to the lower and clearer flows.
